Nicolas Almagro, 18th seed, made it to the second round of the US Open after defeating Frank Dancevic 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

The Spaniard used very well one of his weapons, his serve, and hit 20 aces during the match.
Almagro is recovering from a right wrist surgery that he had in July after getting injured at the Mercedes Cup.

“It feels pretty good,” Amagro said. “The first set we both did not play well that good, but by the third set my serve really picked up.”

Nicolas was always in control of the match, his opponent who is ranked 146th was not able to do much. Dancevic tried to do something different in the third set by coming to the net several times but he did not find his way back to the match.

When he was asked about his serve that work very good today he said:
“Before my injury I was really working on my serve so yes, it is the key part of my game right now,” he said.

Nicolas Almagro will play Sam Warburg, a wild card, who got almost a free past to the second round because his opponent, Janko Tipsarevic, was forced to retire after the first set.
