Gilles Muller Ousts Tommy Haas at the US Open

Gilles Muller scores a great win after coming back from 2 sets down to defeat Tommy Haas, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-3.

Haas was just three points away from the victory but in tennis things change quickly and the German lost the set and eventually the match.

The match that lasted a little more than 3 hours began with Tommy Haas leading 4-0. He was playing very good tennis, making few mistakes, hitting the ball with great speed and precision.
When they were at deuce in the fifth game play was interrupted as a bird landed on the net, a ball girl shooed him away and when play resumed Muller was able to take his first game.

Haas took the set easily 6-2 and in the second things kept going in the same direction. Tommy continued without much problems and both players were very effective on their serves.

Muller, a qualifier didn't kept his emotions inside. he was banging his racket on the ground and on his racket bag due to his frustration as the match was skipping of his hands.

During the third set things were even and they went into a tie break. Haas was leading 4-3, just 3 points away from victory, but a bad call (according to Haas) changed the course of the match.
Haas was very angry when a ball that he thought was out was called in. The German argued with the chair umpire and as he arrived beneath the chair shouted, “Are you insane right now?” Then he went to the judge in question and took him to task as well.
Haas ended up not just losing that point but the tie break and the set.

During the fourth set as Haas looked like he was out of the match Muller was more focus and taking control of the situation.
Haas needed to call a trainer at the end of the set due to a finger injury on his right hand.

Unfortunately for Haas he was not able to get back into the match as Muller kept playing good and concentrate.

Gilles Muller made it to the 3rd round of the US Open where he will wait for the winner of the match between Nicolas Almagro and Sam Warburg.
