Victor Hanescu blows into quarterfinals in Austria Open

Victor Hanescu, is enjoy a nice present in tennis and after winning his first ATP title in Gstaad last Sunday he has reached the quarterfinals at the Austrian Open on Wednesday.

Hanescu, is unseeded in Austria but he has hardly broke a sweat in posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round of the tournament that has $910,000 and it's played on red clay tournament.

Victor has being in the quarters here in 2005 but this is the second time in 2008 that he can get consecutive wins in a ATP tournament.

Hanescu's quarterfinal opponent will be Argentina’s Brian Dabul, a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Ivo Minar.

Minar was coming off from a very nice start where he upset of Olivier Rochus, 8th seed, in the first round on Tuesday but he could not carry the momentum into the second round.

The tournament has lost their top seed Andreas Seppi after he dropped out of the event on Tuesday with a groin injury so the tournament is pretty much open for anyone.

Potito Starace, 4th seed, moved a step closer to appearing in a second straight final here with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Daniel Koellerer.

Starace, lost in 2007 to Juan Monaco in the final, will play the winner of the match between Eduardo Schwank, 5th seed and Stutgart semifinalist, and German qualifier Daniel Brands.
